Today Is National Ice Cream Day!
DELAWARE VALLEY (CBS) -- It's National Ice Cream Day and if that's not an excuse to have yourself a scoop or two than what is?
The holiday is actually part of National Ice Cream Month which was designated by President Ronald Reagan in July 1984 to promote the US dairy industry. And it seems like his plan worked -- according to the National Dairy Foods Association, more than 10 percent of all milk produced by US dairy farmers is used to make ice cream.
The holiday is good news for ice cream lovers, especially in the Delaware Valley as dozens of local shops are dishing out some sweet ice cream deals to help customers join in the celebration.
