Taj Mahal Employees Return To Picket Line

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ. (CBS) -- Trump Taj Mahal workers in Atlantic City returned to the picket line Saturday as their strike continues.

Carrying signs and chanting their displeasure, dozens of disgruntled Local 54 employees marched outside the entrance to the hotel and casino. Spokeswoman Diana Hussein says they are seeking fair treatment.

"It has a lot to do with the healthcare offer," she said. "The one the Taj Mahal is offering is substandard. It's essentially half of what every other casino in this town is offering their workers."

In a effort to make their point, the employees had their families join them on the boardwalk.

"It's to show that these workers are not just doing it for themselves. And that's really key, especially with the healthcare stuff and the wages stuff," Hussein said. "They just want to be able to take care of their families like everybody else."

There is an offer on the table from management that expires at 5 p.m. Monday. Hussein says the rank and file already voted that down, so what happens next remains to be seen.
