Sixers Officially Sign Dario Saric

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The wait is officially over. No more media reports say this and sources say that.

The Sixers have officially signed Dario Saric who will join the team for the upcoming season.

Saric was selected in the first round of the 2014 NBA Draft and spent two years in Turkey. He is fulfilling a promise that he made to the Sixers, saying that he would come over and play for the team after two seasons.

The Croatian big man arrived in Philadelphia on Thursday and was greeted at the airport by fans and media.

Today, he inked his deal and is now a member of a Sixers front court that includes No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons, Jahlil Okafor, Joel Embiid and Nerlens Noel. It is crowded to say the least.

The jury is still out on what position Saric will play in the NBA. At 6'10", he has the size of a power forward, but like Simmons, is regarded as a skilled ball-handler and passer. With an improving jump shot, there is a notion that he could play some small forward.

"We are thrilled to finally announce the highly anticipated signing of Dario Saric to an NBA player contract with the Philadelphia 76ers," said Sixers President of Basketball Operations Bryan Colangelo said in a statement on the team's website. "Our basketball team stands to benefit from both the on-court development and physical maturation of Dario as a professional player in Croatia and Turkey over the last few years."

Whatever his position is, he is a Sixer and the long wait is over for the mystery piece of the rebuild, Dario Saric.
