Trace Adkins Donating Appearance Fee After Fans Complain About Seaside Heights Show

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. (CBS) -- A popular country music star hit a sour note with some fans during a concert at the Jersey Shore.

Trace Adkins was the headliner for a show in Seaside Heights on Wednesday night. Some longtime fans took to social media to complain about the singer's performance.

Some said that he appeared to be in no condition to be on stage.

"He sits there, starts playing," recalled concert goer Darrah Maffetton. "The first few words that come out of his mouth, couldn't understand a word he said. The music was off-key. The sounds was bad. I mean, he just, it was a mess. I've never seen him like that."

Eyewitness News reached out to Adkins' management company for comment. They did not directly address the fans' concerns, but they did say that he had to end the show early due to unforeseen circumstances and he would donate his appearance fee to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
