General Mills Recalls Popular Betty Crocker Cake Mixes
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (CBS) – Out of an abundance of caution, General Mills announces they are recalling three flavors of their popular Betty Crocker cake mixes.
Two of the flavors sold in the U.S – Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Party Rainbow Chip Cake Mix – are a part of a larger recall issued on July 1, 2016 of products containing flour that were linked to E.coli outbreaks.
In Canada, the third flavor called Betty Crocker Super Moist Rainbow Bit Cake Mix was recalled as well.
So far, no illnesses have been reported.
The General Mills supplier says they used Wondra flour to make the flavor chips used in the cake mixes.
Guidance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) continues to warn that consumers should refrain from consuming any uncooked cake batter or raw flour products.
In May, General Mills recalled about 10 million pounds of its flour over a possible link to an E. coli outbreak in 20 states.
