Study Links Staying Active To Improved Memory In Adults

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One of the biggest concerns for people as they get older is whether they will develop memory problems or not.
According to a new study there may be a potential way to help offset memory issues—stay busy. According to research in the journal 'Frontiers in Aging Research' a busy lifestyle in older adults could help improve and sustain memory.
Prior research has suggested that performing mentally challenging tasks can help older adults retain memory, but this research looked at having a busy overall schedule and its impact. The investigators studied 330 adults between the ages of 50 to 89 who are evaluated every four years.
Thus far the research has shown a clear connection to staying physically and mentally active and memory benefits.
