Philadelphia Ranks Among Top American Cities For Street Art
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- According to Thrillist, Philadelphia is among the top cities in the United States for street art. The site listed the 11th best cities to go and enjoy murals and other various expressions or artwork on outdoor structures.
For residents of Philadelphia, the uniqueness of the artwork on the streets may be lost due to how often it is seen.
However, when compared to other cities, Philadelphia's art is up there with the best of them.
The list highlighted Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program. The program is the largest public art program in the United States.
Murals created by the program aim to strengthen community relationships while sparking economic growth, attracting visitors who come to the city to see the artwork.
Other cities that were listed were Detroit, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Miami, Navajo Nation (Arizona and New Mexico), Chicago, New York, Las Vegas, Baltimore and Fresno.
