Union Host D.C. United Saturday Night

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Union will be home on Saturday night in MLS action, welcoming D.C. United to Chester.

Philadelphia has 26 points (7-6-5 record) this season and that's good for second place in MLS Eastern Conference. The Union have dropped two straight with the last loss being extremely painful. Philadelphia lost 1-0 last Saturday in Houston with the Dynamo scoring the only goal of the game in the closing seconds of stoppage time.

"It's tough," Union midfielder Chris Pontius tells KYW Newsradio. "You're going to have some of those that go your way throughout the season, we've certainly won in the last few minutes of the game a couple of times this year. So it's going to come back and bite you in the butt at some point."

But Pontius expects his group to bounce back.

"Coming back home makes it a lot easier," Pontius adds. "Against a rival. All the guys are ready and up for it."

Pontius was acquired from D.C. United in the off-season and he has done great work for Philadelphia this season, scoring a team high six goals and adding four assists in 18 MLS matches.

D.C. United is currently fifth in the Eastern Conference with 21 points thanks to a 5-6-6 record. They are unbeaten in their last three matches (1-0-2). Last time out, United played Real Salt Lake to a 1-1 draw last Friday night.

These two teams have already played once this season with the Union winning in Chester back on May 20th, 1-0, on a late Richie Marquez goal.

"Last time we played them, it was a really ugly game," Pontius remembers. "We didn't move the ball fast enough, we didn't get into good spots offensively. We were able to keep the shutout, which is important and ended up winning the game later on with Richie coming around the backside and getting the goal. But offensively I'd like to see us be a lot calmer on the ball in this game and moving it a bit faster."

Saturday night's match will being at 7:00pm.
