Heat Advisory To Kick Off Stretch Of Hot & Humid Days In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A heat advisory will be in effect throughout the day in Philadelphia.

Dangerous heat is expected to impact the region until Friday.

Due to an Excessive Heat Warning, the PCA Heatline says they will operate Wednesday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to midnight and on Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Department nurses will be on site to speak with callers about heat related medical problems.

The National Weather Service is reminding people that the temperatures can increase the likelihood of heat-related illnesses.

It is recommended that people drink plenty of fluids throughout the day and stay in air-conditioned areas. People are also urged to check on relatives and neighbors and be mindful of young children as well as the elderly. Light clothing and loose-fitting clothing are recommended and strenuous activities should be done in the early morning and at night.
