Small Earthquake Shakes Towns In Northern New Jersey

KINNELON, N.J. (AP) — Officials say a small earthquake rattled parts of New Jersey but didn't cause any damage or injuries.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-1.4 quake was recorded at 12:06 a.m. Monday near the Morris County community of Kinnelon. Officials say it also could be felt in surrounding towns, including Butler and Bloomingdale.

Authorities say some residents called in to report the earthquake was occurring.

Experts say smaller earthquakes usually don't cause damage. But people will usually feel a little bit of shaking on higher floors.
