Diekman Compares Texas To Philly: No 'Death Threats On Twitter'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Some say Philadelphia is one of the toughest places to play for professional athletes. Jake Diekman would probably agree.

Diekman, a 29-year-old left-handed relief pitcher, started his career in Philly and was traded to the Texas Rangers in July of 2015. Diekman was asked to compare the fan bases and revealed he received social media death threats while he was a Phillie.

"I feel like it's like a different feel for a different part of the country," Diekman told 94WIP's Rickie Ricardo. "I feel like they realize it's a marathon not a sprint, so if you have a rough game they don't send you death threats on Twitter."

This season, Diekman has a 3.03 ERA in 36 games with 34 strikeouts and just 10 walks.
