76ers Will Hire Jim O'Brien To Be Assistant Coach, Per Report

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia 76ers will hire Jim O'Brien to be an assistant coach, according to 94WIP's Howard Eskin.

According to Bob Cooney, Brett Brown chose to have O'Brien join the staff.

O'Brien, 64, is from Philadelphia. He attended Roman Catholic High School and Saint Joseph's University.

O'Brien coached the Sixers to a 43-39 record in 2004-05, but was fired despite reaching the postseason.

O'Brien last coached in 2012-13 as a Dallas Mavericks assistant.
