Man Turns Self In After 4-Year-Old's Shooting Death In North Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Eyewitness News has learned that Demetrius Williams turned himself in to Philadelphia Police on Thursday night following the shooting death of a 4-year-old girl in North Philadelphia.
Williams is the boyfriend of the girl's mother, Shakeya Holmes. Following her daughter's death, which police believe was due to an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound, Holmes was charged with third-degree involuntary manslaughter, recklessly endangering the welfare of another person, and recklessly endangering the welfare of a child.
Sources say that Williams will be charged for weapons offenses including recklessly endangering the welfare of another person and recklessly endangering the welfare of a child.
Holmes was charged on June 24, but officials announced that Williams was still on the loose. That ended with him turning himself in on Thursday night.
Eyewitness News learned that Williams has had a warrant out for his arrest since 2013 in connection to weapons charges and that police believe the gun in the incident was stolen.
