Yards Brewery Taps New Center City Location
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After months of searching, Yards Brewery has found a space to build a new and bigger home.
The brewery that's currently located on Delaware Avenue near Fairmount will be moving sometime next year to a new space, around the corner at 5th and Spring Garden.
Yards President and co-founder Tom Kehoe says while they are moving, they aren't leaving town.
"It's closer to Center City, closer to the historic district and it's still in Northern Liberties, which we've been calling home for the last eight years," Kehoe said.
Kehoe said the plan is to lease about 75 thousand square feet of space in a building that sits on 8 acres, big enough to more than double his output to 100 thousand barrels of beer per year.
"We'll also be adding a canning line because our strategy is to build depth where we are and having another vehicle to deliver beer in places that we're currently not selling beer, we'll be able to do that," he said.
The new brewery is scheduled to open late next year.
