New Acts And More Music Expected At America's Biggest Birthday Party This Year

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Leon Bridges, The O'Jays, Harold Melvin's Blue Notes and The Intruders are some of the July Fourth acts on the Parkway for the Sound of Philadelphia tribute before the fireworks.

America's biggest birthday party will feature five hours of non-stop live entertainment, starting earlier this year at 5 p.m.

This year's lineup features Philly native Leslie Odom Jr.

"I'm looking forward to celebrating July 4th in my hometown," Odom said. "I did it for years growing up, I remember the last time I did it very clearly, it was about 13 years ago right before I left Philadelphia for Los Angeles so its going to be wonderful coming back after all this time."

Earlier this month he won a Tony for his portrayal of Aaron Burr in Broadway hit 'Hamilton' and His self titled album debuted at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Albums Chart.

"Hamilton, hip-hop that is what's new for me, finding my inner MC finding my inner TuPac, the inner Kanye, that was new," he said. "I grew up on this style of music, singing a song like 'Autumn Leaves' that's my training, that's where I come from so it just feels like a return to that."

Odom will be joined by 'Empire' actor Yazz the Greatest, Neo-Soul singer Leon Bridges with local latin group Viva Mas and tribute to Gamble and Huff and The Sound of Philadelphia with The O'Jays, Harold Melvin's Blue Notes and The Intruders.

Biz Markie will be DJing between sets and grand finale fireworks will start at 10 p.m.
