Philly's Welcome America Festival Returns With Variety Of Family Events

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 2016 Wawa Welcome America Festival kicked off Monday with an American Flag Mural Restoration and Rededication event. This year's week-long celebration has a special Philadelphia focus.

This year's festivities include family movie nights, citywide book readings at the 54 free libraries, as well as free museums days.

"It's really exciting for us to entertain our visitors all with free events so we can come together to celebrate something that can only be uniquely claimed here in Philadelphia," said  Wawa Welcome America president and CEO Jeff Guaracino.

He says the week's events are meant for everyone whether your budget is big or small.

"Why not stay here right in Philadelphia and enjoy all the free entertainment, all the free quality fireworks and big displays," Guaracino said. "Show yourselves a good time right in our own hometown."
