Philly Police Officer Arrested For Alleged Robbery In Bristol Township

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Police say an officer has been arrested and charged with robbery, theft and other related charges following an incident in Bristol Township.

Authorities say Officer Michael Winkler was arrested by Bristol Township Police as a result of an investigation into an incident that occurred on May 5.

Police say while on duty as a Philadelphia Police officer, Officer Winkler went to the 700 block of Newportville Road in an unmarked vehicle and engaged in a business dispute with males inside of a parked car.

The men say Winkler hired them to do work at one of his properties and lured them there, promising them additional money and pizzas.

However, police say, Winkler demanded that one of the males give him all of the money in his pockets, taking approximately $38.

Bristol Township Police arrested Winkler and charged him with robbery, theft, unlawful taking and other related charges.

Police say Officer Winkler is a 16 year veteran of the department.

Commissioner Ross has suspended him for 30 days with the intent to dismiss.
