NJ Police Seek Answers In 3-Year Long Mystery Of Suspicious Death

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- Investigators in Camden County, New Jersey are still searching for answers in a 3-year-old mystery.

Fifty-nine-year-old Carol Reiff was reported missing on June 21, 2013 by her daughter. Four days later, police discovered her body on the outskirts of Gloucester Township's Lakeview Apartment complex, about a quarter of a mile from where she lived.

"She was very friendly, she would talk to anybody, she would speak with her neighbors," said Detective Michael Leach, lead investigator in the case.

Reiff was last seen walking into her apartment, after coming home from work on June 20, 2013. She said hello to a neighbor, went inside her unit and was never seen alive again.

"She was located in a heavily brushed area, she appeared to propped up against a tree."

Though Reiff was an avid runner, her running shoes and GPS watch were still inside her apartment when police searched it.

"Officers went inside the apartment, everything looked normal. The windows were secured, locked. The door was secured, locked," he said. "Her vehicle was still on location."

But Leach says Reiff's cell phone and purse were missing.

"We didn't locate her cell phone, or her purse, but her keys were located inside the apartment, and the apartment was locked," he said. "We had no suspicious activity, we nothing was reported to us. Nobody came forward with any information."

Now Leach says the smallest amount of information from the public could help them solve the mystery.

There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, and an additional $10,000 if it leads to a conviction.
