Candle Light Vigil To Take Place For Folcroft Officer Shot In Line Of Duty

FOLCROFT, Pa (CBS) -- Folcroft Officer Christopher Dorman was shot seven times in the line of duty, on Friday. In the wake of the shooting, a candle light vigil is set to take place in Folcroft on Saturday, June 25.

Officer Dorman is said to be in stable condition after being shot in the face, leg and groin. Officials say his bullet proof vest may have saved his life.

Loved ones of the officer will gather at Folcroft Borough Hall at 8 p.m.

On Facebook, residents described the officer as a lifelong Folcroft resident who has dedicated his life to helping the community by volunteering at the firehouse and recently joining the police department.

The 25-year-old officer was in the force for only a year before his life was almost cut short.

Residents say the vigil will celebrate Officer Dorman's dedication to the town.
