Police Charge Man In Crash That Killed Burlco Teacher, Passenger

SOUTH HAMPTON, Nj (CBS) – On Friday, Burlington County officials announced that a man has been charged for a fatal crash that killed a passenger, and a teacher in August of 2015.

According to police, Patrick Miller has been charged with vehicular homicide for the wreck that killed 31-year-old David Eldridge and 29-year-old Allison McGinnis.

McGinnis was a school teacher at Helen Fort Middle School in Pemberton, New Jersey.

Officials say Miller was traveling northbound on Route 206 on August 27, 2015 when his pickup truck veered across the center line and fatally struck McGinnis as she was jogging.

The truck then overturned near an intersection after striking several trees. The truck's passenger, Eldridge of Wrightstown, was partially ejected from the vehicle before his body was crushed by the truck.

The charges were brought after toxicology tests were completed on blood drawn after the crash.

In addition to criminal charges, prosecutors say Miller received traffic summons including possession of marijuana, driving while intoxicated, and reckless driving.

Miller is free on $150,000 bail.
