Folcroft Lockdown Keeps Residents Inside As SWAT Members Capture Suspect

DELAWARE COUNTY (CBS) -- Much of the tiny borough of Folcroft was on lockdown for a few hours while police flushed out their suspect on Friday.  At the scene of the shooting, residents breathed a sigh of relief when the incident came to a conclusion some three hours afterward.

The shooting occurred at the Folcroft Station apartments, literally across the street from the police station. Will Stocker works about a block away and said he could hear the gunshots ring.

"I heard a couple gunshots, like a bap-bap and a bap-bap. I didn't think anything of it," Stocker said. "I thought it was a roofer's nail gun. And then, of course, we heard the sirens."

Neighbors were evacuated as more than 100 police and SWAT team members swarmed in. Nearby SEPTA and Amtrak rail service as disrupted until the suspect was whisked away from the scene in the back of a police car, to the cheers of some two dozen people on the street. They're just grateful no civilians were hurt, given this area is said to be known as a haven for drug activity.
