Ben Simmons: 'I Spoke With LeBron Last Night'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Ben Simmons is surrounded by the right people.

His "camp" consists of -- according to an ESPN The Magazine piece -- his older sister Emily Bush (wife of former NFL RB Michael Bush), his older brother Sean Tribe, his best friend Cisco Silva, his father and former Australian basketball star Dave Simmons, and his agent Rich Paul (founder of Klutch Sports Group).

Paul, a Cleveland, Ohio native, represents LeBron James who has become a mentor for Simmons.

"I spoke with him last night and just congratulated him," Simmons told the 94WIP Morning Show on Friday, the morning after he was the first overall pick of the Philadelphia 76ers. "Told him I look forward to playing him next season. He's very supportive of me. I'm glad he won that championship in Cleveland. He's a great person, so he deserves it."

How about that block in game 7 of the Finals?

"He's surreal," Simmons said. "That was very special."

Simmons, the youngest of six siblings, has lofty goals for himself in Philadelphia.

"Dream is to just win and get better everyday and be the best version of myself," Simmons said. "So, as long as I'm working hard I believe I can do that."
