Ben Simmons Works Out For 76ers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Ben Simmons worked out for the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday morning.

Simmons, 19, is projected to be the first overall pick in Thursday's NBA Draft. The 6'10", 240-pound forward averaged 19.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 4.8 rebounds per game, becoming the first college player since Ron Harper in 1986 to reach those totals.

Sixers head coach Brett Brown coached Simmons' father in Australia in the late 80's and talked about the advantage of knowing his family on 94WIP.

"And all the sudden, you blink, and he's in a position not only to be selected first but we're in a position where the ping pong ball fell our way and we have an opportunity to choose him," Brown said on Monday. "And so all over the place, knowledge of his background, his coaches, people that were around him, his family — I feel like how can that not be an advantage and in many ways, a great advantage."
