PA Police Department Hands Out "Ice Cream Citations" For Bicycle Safety

WHITE HAVEN, Pa. (CBS) -- Police in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania are citing kids who are not doing anything wrong.

There's no scandal here, though. It's a reward for young bicyclists who wear their helmets.

The White Haven Police Department is handing out "ice cream citations."

Kids can then go to Woods Ice Cream Shop for a free treat.

The police chief says the idea was met with mixed reaction at first, but now everyone loves it.
