Vigil Planned In New Jersey For NJ Native Christina Grimmie
EVESHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (CBS) -- A candlelight vigil is being held for New Jersey native Christina Grimmie in her hometown of Evesham Township, following the singer's tragic death.
The former "Voice" contestant was shot and killed by a stranger Friday night while signing autographs in Orlando after a concert.
The vigil is set for 8:45 p.m. at the Marlton Memorial Sports Complex off of Tuckerton Road.
Mayor Randy Brown made the announcement on Facebook, calling Grimmie "one of Evesham's shining stars" and offered condolences to her family.
Christina's brother Marcus, who is being credited with taking down the gunman, posted on his Facebook page that Christina's coach on "The Voice," Adam Levine, has offered to pay her funeral costs.
He wrote, "I found out this morning, that Adam Levine personally called my mother and said he will pay for the funeral and her plane flight, and I was blown away."
