Orlando Nightclub Shooting Prompts Video Lesson From Gloucester Township PD

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- A police department in Camden County, New Jersey has been proactive in teaching residents what to do in an active shooter situation.

In the aftermath of the Orlando massacre, the Gloucester Township Police Department posted a video on Facebook, created by Homeland Security and the city of Houston about what to do if a gunman enters a place of work, school, or otherwise.

The video states there are three things you can do -- run, hide, fight.

"We thought it was a nice short video that encourages people in that situation on what to do and how to act, and be prepared," said Lt. Brendan Barton, with the town's Community Relations Bureau.

The township has also held training meetings on what to do, if ever, in that situation

"We decided to take a bigger stand in training our residents for an active shooter situation," Barton said.

But he says the first thing-- see something, say something.

"If it feels weird to them, then they should report it, and go with their sixth sense," Barton said. "Let us investigate anything that is out of place to make sure it's safe for everyone."
