Gordie Howe Passes Away At 88

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Hockey great Gordie Howe passed away at the age of 88 on Friday.

"Mr. Hockey"  has played the most games in NHL history with 1,767 over 26 seasons. His 801 career goals rank second most behind Wayne Gretzky. Howe played for 25 seasonns with the Detroit Red Wings, winning four Stanley Cups.

A "Gordie Howe hat trick" is a popular term still used to describe someone with a goal, an assist, and a fight in the same game.

Gordie's son, Mark Howe, played for the Philadelphia Flyers from 1982-83 to 1991-92, before joining the Red Wings for his final three NHL seasons. Both Mark and Gordie Howe have been inducted into the Hall Of Fame.
