3 Injured In Fast-Moving House In Fire In South Jersey

WEST DEPTFORD, Nj (CBS) -- Restoration crews on site of a devastating house fire in West Deptford, Gloucester County are working to board up what remains of a home at 66 Church Street.

The fast-moving fire devoured a structure late Thursday night, and sent three people to the hospital, including a man who neighbors say tried to escape the flames from a second story window.

"Two were taken to Inspira. One was taken to Cooper I believe," said Chief Brian Golle of the Thorofare Fire Department.

A neighbor shot this video after the fire broke out around 10 p.m. She recalls hearing an argument and then seeing the flames.

One of the victims, she says, broke through an upstairs window and tried to climb down to safety. Instead part of the home broke off and he fell to the ground.

Fire crews arrived within minutes.

"Crews made an aggressive attack." Crews were able to stop the fire from completely destroying the house next door. However, there was some major damage.

The sister of the man who lives at the house stopped by to see the damage with her own eyes.

Quivering she says her brother was not hurt.

Now, many people who live on this block were too shaken up to speak with us on camera, but they say after seeing the flames this morning the people who live here are lucky to be alive.

This home is a complete loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
