1 Dead, 1 Injured Following Shootout In Hunting Park

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A shootout in the Hunting Park section of the city ends with one man dead and another in the hospital.

Police say 17 shots were fired from two weapons. On one side of 9th Street, was a 26-year-old, shot just feet away from his home. On the other was a 47-year-old man. Chief inspector Scott Small says found him face down on the sidewalk.

"Suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to chest his back and his head. He was pronounced dead on the scene by medics at 10:35 p.m."

A semi-automatic handgun was found underneath his body.

The 26-year-old showed up at Temple Hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. A few cars were struck by stray bullets, but noone else was hurt.

Homicide detectives now interviewing witnesses and trying to figure out what led up to the shootout.
