Chris Givens Raves About Carson Wentz's Arm

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's so early into his NFL career, but all eyes our on new Eagles quarterback and No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz.

One of the things we continue to hear about Wentz, is his fearlessness throwing the ball down the field. On Thursday, new Eagles' wide receiver Chris Givens, echoed that sentiment.

"He's very smart and he has a cannon," Givens said of Wentz on the 94WIP Morning Show. "He's not afraid to throw the ball anywhere on the field. He's picking up things faster than I expected. He has a really, really strong arm. That's the thing I noticed the most about him."

Givens, 26, has spent four years in the NFL. The vast majority of that time was spent in St. Louis with the Rams (now the Los Angeles Rams), and his best seasons came early in his career with Sam Bradford.

Givens admitted Bradford being in Philly helped aid his decision to sign with the Eagles this offseason.

"It was just something that we picked up where we left off," Givens said of playing with Bradford. "It was one of those things where, it was kind of like riding a bike."

Givens, who says he runs faster than his 4.41 40-yard dash speed listed, has just 107 catches for 1,779 yards and five touchdowns in 60 career games played. Now, as a deep threat with the Eagles, Givens is confident he's about to burst onto the scene.

"I'm so ready to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way," Givens said. "I just have a lot to prove, I have a chip on my shoulder. I'm just at a place where I'm ready to explode and be things I need to be, to be a household name in this league."
