Philadelphia Ranked 12th Best City For Hockey Fans

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thanks to the late, great Ed Snider, the tradition of hockey runs deep in the blood of Philadelphia.

Ever since the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champion Broad Street Bullies' teams in 1973-74 and 1974-75, Philly has been a hockey town. And while the Flyers have not won a championship since then, they have been one of the NHL's most consistently successful teams, recording the most conference finals appearances among all expansion teams and the second most playoff appearances.

Well, according to Wallethub.com, Philadelphia is the 12th best hockey city in America. The study used 17 key metrics from ticket prices, to stadium capacity, to the performance level, in order to determined the rankings.

High ticket prices, a low capacity at the Wells Fargo Center, and the lack of prominent college hockey prevented Philly from cracking the top 10.

Detroit, Boston, Pittsburgh, New York, and Chicago were the top-five ranked hockey cities in America. Check out the full study here
