Sewer Main Leak Forces Road Closure In Mount Laurel

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) -- The Mount Laurel Municipal Utilities Authority has announced a road closure following a sanitary sewer force main leak.

The leak occurred on Hartford Road between Route 38 and Union Mill Road and the closure is in place in that area. Officials say it occurred on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.

Crews are working to repair the leak at this time and are expected to be doing so into Wednesday.

Municipal Utilities Authority sewer customers are being asked to limit their water usage to essential use only. This request is expected to remain in place through Wednesday's afternoon hours.

Officials are urging to limit waste water, which comes from drains, dishwashers, washing machines and toilets. They explain that until the leaking pipe is fixed, waste water will be hauled by over a dozen trucks.

If anyone experience waste water back up, the are asked to contact the Mount Laurel MUA at 856-234-0062.

Mount Laurel is reminding residents that the water supply has not been affected and is safe for consumption.
