Phillies Look To Get Back On Track Behind Nola

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies will continue their series against the Washington Nationals tonight at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phils have lost four straight and eight of their last ten after dropping the first game in this three-game series last night, 4-3. The Phils led 2-1 after seven, but Hector Neris struggled in the 8th, allowing three runs that paved the way to victory for Washington.

Aaron Nola gets the start on the mound tonight for the Phils. The right-hander is 4-3 and his ERA is 2.86. Last time out in Detroit, he beat the Tigers, allowing four runs (two earned) in six innings of work. Nola has made two starts against the Nationals this season. On April 16th at Citizens Bank Park, he allowed seven runs in five innings in an 8-1 loss. But on April 28th in Washington, Nola pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits. He got a no-decision in a game the Phils eventually won, 3-0.

Washington counters on the mound with right-hander Joe Ross. He is 4-4 with a 2.52 ERA. he beat the Phils on April 16th at CBP, throwing 7 2/3 shutout innings in a 9-1 win.

The Phillies are now 26-25 this season. They are tied for third in National League East, 4 1/2 games behind the first-place Nationals, who are 31-21.
