Students, Seniors Collaborate On 'Ageless' Art

by Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An art exhibit at the Philadelphia Senior Center showcases inter-generational works.

Alison Corter, with Newcourtland Senior Services says the 8th annual Artist Fellowship Exhibit brings together senior citizens and students.

"The seniors tell their stories through art; so the seniors and students work together, they learn from each other and they create inter-generational art," Corter said.

She says the seniors and the students spend structured time together working on their art projects.

"It is a 10-week program, all different mediums and the artists partner with local area schools and whatever project they are doing, if it's a photography project, arts project, digital photography, mosaics," said Corter.

But even more important than the final work is the process of making it.

"The students are making the seniors feel really happy and I think they're making some really valuable friendships, here," Corter said.

The Art is Ageless exhibit runs through August 19th at the Philadelphia Senior Center on South Broad Street.
