Man Saves 4-Year-Old Son From Falling Tree Branch At Neshaminy Park

BENSALEM, Pa (CBS) – Shortly after 4.p.m on Saturday officials responded to reports of a tree down with pedestrians trapped underneath.

Witnesses said a man was able to push his four-year-old son out of the way before being struck by the tree limb, which fell from about 50 feet.

Good samaritans were able to lift the limb off of the man, while waiting for first responders to arrive.

Paramedics took the man and his son to Aria-Torresdale Hospital with lacerations and non-life threatening injuries.

The incident happened at Neshaminy State Park located on the 3000 block of State Road.

The man's six-year-old daughter was not hurt. The family is from Beverly, NJ.

The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Park rangers taped off the area, which will be closed throughout the holiday weekend.

The PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will inspect the tree and all others in the area to ensure that they are healthy.
