It's Here, The First Official Heat Wave Of The Season

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Summer isn't here yet, but it surely feels like it. The first official heat wave of the season is expected to hit Saturday afternoon.

According to CBS 3 meteorologist Justin Drabick, Saturday temperatures will hit a high of 90, marking the third consecutive day of 90 degree temperatures.

The temperatures are within 3 degrees of the record-breaking temp for this date.

Sources say the heat index will rise to 90-95 degrees.

For those out celebrating Memorial Day and honoring those who fought for our safety, it is especially important that you stay safe during this time.

The national weather service released a statement saying that 45 people died in 2015 from extreme heat. Four of them happened right here in Pennsylvania.

Anita Oh has some tips on how to keep you and your family protected now that it's starting to feel like summer.

She suggests wearing lightly colored loose clothing, and staying hydrated.

Officials also suggest using sunscreen, wearing a hat, and staying out of the sun during peak hours.
