Soul Set To Roll Into Cleveland

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Soul are riding high after a pretty impressive last couple games.

The Soul beat Arizona and Orlando the last two weeks, teams that had a combined record of 12-1 heading into their respective match-ups with the Soul. The two victories improved the Soul to 7-1 on the season as they ready for a visit to Cleveland this coming weekend on Saturday.

The victory over Orlando came this past Saturday, Philadelphia winning 62-54 at the Center.

"There were a lot of things that went well for us in that game," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "We played really hard the whole 60 minutes. Had some things go our way early, had some things not go our way late, but the sign of a good team is we held on."

Listen to the entire interview with Soul head coach Clint Dolezel:

The win over Orlando came in the final regular-season game at the Center for the Soul this year. Because of the Democratic National Convention being in Philadelphia this summer, the second-half of the Soul's schedule is loaded with road games and two games in Trenton and Allentown that are considered Soul home games. Dolezel, though, says his team will take it all in stride.

"We've had a history of playing well on the road, so we like it," Dolezel says. "It's just an 'us versus them' type deal. It's 'us against the world.' We like that."

The Soul have already played, and beaten, Cleveland twice this year. Philadelphia took care of the Gladiators in their first game of the campaign on April 1st in Ohio, 69-41. Then, on April 23rd, the Soul picked up a 67-50 win at the Center.

Dolezel expects a battle on Saturday.

"We've got a big rivalry with those guys," Dolezel says. "Nothing is ever easy with that. The better team doesn't matter in that game. It's just kind of like the Cowboys and Washington Redskins growing up, they also played each other well, no matter who had the better team. It's going to be that way again. (Cleveland) Coach Steve Thonn always has those guys ready to play."

Philadelphia and Cleveland kickoff at 7:00pm on Saturday.
