Doug Pederson Reiterates QB Depth Chart: 'Sam, Chase, Carson'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- All eyes will be on the Eagles' quarterback situation this offseason.

And, how first-year head coach Doug Pederson handles Sam Bradford, Chase Daniel, and No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz.

"Sam is still the starter," Pederson reiterated on Tuesday after the first day of offseason team activities. "Carson has a long way to go with this system. He's learning every day, but Sam is the guy."

After the Eagles moved up in the draft to select Wentz, Bradford requested a trade through his agent last month. Now, with Bradford back with the team, Pederson says he QB plan hasn't changed.

"My plan is to keep developing Carson," Pederson said. "Again Sam, Chase, Carson. Carson has a lot to learn -- not only from just the playbook -- but just how to be a professional quarterback, how to handle the media, how to handle Philadelphia, his teammates, get to know his teammates. There's a lot involved and that's the beauty of having two veteran guys in front of a Carson Wentz. That's the plan, that's the plan. Keep developing Carson, keep developing Chase, and get Sam ready for opening day."

In 1999 under Andy Reid, the Eagles drafted Donovan McNabb with the second overall pick to eventually replace non-other than Pederson himself. McNabb saw playing time in Week 2 of his rookie season and continued to see at least some snaps through the season.

Any chance that happens this year with Wentz?

"That's hard to say when I got Chase Daniel sitting there," Pederson said.
