Today Is National Chocolate Chip Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – They are great in cookies, ice cream and even on their own - and today we celebrate them! Chocolate lovers, this one's for you.

Today is National Chocolate Chip Day.

Chocolate chips have been around since 1941, and they come in a variety of flavors.

Bittersweet, semi-sweet, mint, white chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white and dark swirled.

If you have children, this might be a good excuse to indulge and make some chocolate chip cookies today.
