2 Teens Killed, 2 Hurt When Car Crashes Hours After Prom
MAURICE RIVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) — Two Bridgeton, NJ teens lost their lives early Saturday morning, when the car they were in crashed into a tree.
Daisia Sulton, 17, and Mikayla Mosley, 15, and had just attended their high school prom.
"I lost two of my best friends on the same day," said Niajah Rainner, who was friends with both girls. "Prom is supposed to be a happy day, not when you die."
Sulton, Mosley and two friends were on their way back from Ocean City, after the Bridgeton High School prom.
NJ State Police say around 3:45 a.m. Sulton was headed westbound on Rt. 49 towards Bridgeton, when her PT Cruiser swerved into the eastbound lane and struck a tree.
Sulton and Mosley were killed. Medics rushed the two other passengers, Jada Barriengo, 17, and Zyiah Stocks, 16, to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
"Nobody needs to experience this pain," said Sharon Hood, Mosley's aunt. "This pain is physically hurting us. Nobody should ever feel this. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy."
A huge gathering of Mosley's extended family and friends came together at her Bridgeton home to mourn and remember a girl who meant so much.
"She just looked like an angel, all she needed was her little angel wings and she got them," said Annette Patton, Mosley's grandmother. "She got her angel wings."
Mosley's best friend, Rainner, broke down while describing her, the pain of losing two warm, bright and bubbly young women just too much to bear.
"Mosley was always there all of the time, whenever I needed her," she said. "Anything I asked her to do, she would do it without asking her any questions. And Daisia, she was the same way."
As for the other passengers, at last check, Stocks was in critical condition and Barriengo in stable.
The sad news came on the same day many in the community attended the funeral of Luz Delacruz-Antonio. She was an 18-year-old student from Bridgeton, who died in a car accident two weeks ago.
