What's Cooking on 1060: Plenty To Eat At Spruce Street Harbor Park

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia's popular pop-up park on Penn's Landing has opened, complete with a boardwalk and net lounge over the Delaware River. So what's on the menu?

By now you've heard that Spruce Street Harbor Park is open. But what is there to eat? Dave Moore, General Manager and director of food and beverage says now in its third year, the feedback they've gotten was to add more hammocks and more food.

"This year we have all of our favorites back from last year," Moore said. "We have the Federal Donuts fried chicken sandwich, Garces Distrito taco, Garces Village Burger, Franklin Fountain ice cream, frozen delight cotton candy and house-made funnel cakes and, this year, our new editions are Chickie and Pete's crab fries and Kevin Sbraga with the Little Fat Ham pulled pork sandwich, Texas briscuit and hot fish sandwiches."

Moore says stay tuned for specialty beer.

"Yards makes a beer for us called 'The Lazy Hammock,'" Moore said. "They're going to be bringing that back Memorial Day weekend. It was a huge success last year."

He says setting up for vendors has evolved. After all, the park went from being a one-year, two-month pop-up to an annual four-month tourist attraction.

"We really had to put a lot of work and a lot of infrastructure into the park that was not originally there," Moore said. "We've run a lot of electric through the park. We've gotten refrigeration containers, freezer containers. Every year we try to make it a little bit easier for everybody to operate."
