Philadelphia City Council Congratulates Villanova On National Title

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Villanova Wildcats are continuing to receive recognition. On Thursday, the Cats were honored by the Philadelphia City Council.

A council resolution was passed to congratulate the Nova hoops team on winning the National Championship.

A buzzer beater by Kris Jenkins lifted the Wildcats to victory over North Carolina back in March.

"We're extremely humbled just to see the great city of Philadelphia support Villanova the way they did this year, throughout the years and especially on our run to the championship," said Villanova senior Daniel Ochefu. "It means a lot to us."

Relive Villanova's Championship Parade

"These are wonderful honors and it makes our city proud to have our close neighbors in Villanova be a part of the greater Philadelphia region's success," said Councilman Curtis Jones.

Villanova head coach Jay Wright thanked the council for throwing a championship parade to honor the team.
