Phillies Open Series Tonight Against Struggling Braves
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies are down in Georgia to open a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves tonight.
This is the final stop on a ten-game road trip for the Phillies. So far they have gone 3-4 through St. Louis and Miami. Over the weekend the Phillies took two out of three from the Marlins, improving their record this season to 18-14.
LHP Adam Morgan will be on the mound tonight for the Phillies. This will be his third start since his call up from Lehigh Valley. He has yet to record a decision and has an ERA of 6.00 in nine innings of work. Last time out, in St. Louis, Morgan allowed three runs in four-plus innings of work. he got a no-decision, but the Phils eventually lost, 5-4.
Morgan made three starts against Atlanta last season as a rookie. He didn't have much success, but also didn't pitch that poorly. Morgan went 0-3 in the three starts with a solid 4.00 ERA, allowing eight earned runs in 18 innings.
The 2016 season has not been kind to the Braves. Atlanta is an MLB-worst 7-23 this season and they have won just one game at home. One. In 16 tries.
The Braves will start RHP Matt Wisler tonight. He is 1-2 this season with a 3.24 ERA and he was dominant last time out against the Mets. He pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just a single hit in a 3 -0 win.
KYW's Matt Leon got a scout of this Atlanta team as he spoke with Kevin McAlpin of the Braves Radio Network.
