Tourism Officials In Montgomery County Hoping To Cash In On DNC

UPPER PROVIDENCE, Pa. (CBS) -- With the Democratic National Convention coming to town, tourism officials in Montgomery County, are hoping to get their piece of the pie.

Montgomery County commissioner Josh Shapiro, addressing the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board's travel rally, says tourism and travel is key to the county's economy.

"It generates 1.2 billion dollars a year to our county economy and has almost 25,000 employees associated with travel and tourism."

A big reason they've reached out to the 19 delegations to the Democratic National Convention who will be staying in Montgomery County, says Shapiro, touting dining, shopping, parks and other activities in the county.

Valley Forge Tourism and convention board president Mike Bowman also announcing their new Destination Montco Golf:

"We have 54 golf courses in Montgomery County, over 300,000 yards of golf."
