Soul Head West For Monday Night Battle In LA

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Soul are headed to California for a Monday night match-up with the LA KISS.

Philadelphia is 3-1 on the season after beating the Cleveland Gladiators last time out in come from behind fashion, 67-50. Philadelphia rallied from a 28-13 first-half deficit.

"We did come out flat," Soul head coach Clint Dolezel tells KYW Newsradio. "It was just one of those things, I've got to find a way to put my finger on why we come out, two or three times a year, and just don't play early on. You just can't do that against really good football teams."

However, once the Soul turned things around against the Gladiators, they really turned them around. Philadelphia outscored Cleveland 54-22 after falling into that 15-point hole.

"In the second half we did make some adjustments," Dolezel says. "The guys started getting some energy and we started making some plays. No incompletions in the second half, score on every drive, defense with three picks and a sack. That was more of what we were expecting from our group. Definitely played well in the second half."

Now the Soul focus on an LA KISS team that has split its first four games of the season. Last time out they lost to Orlando on the road, 43-40.

"They are a very talented at a lot of different spots," Dolezel says. "Their defense, they have top-two talent in most of the spots over there."

Last season, the Soul beat Los Angeles, 56-48, in California.

Monday night's game will kickoff at 8:00pm Eastern.
