Broad Street Runners Pick Up Bibs, Prep For Inclement Weather

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Runners are getting ready to brave the cold and rainy forecast for this Sunday's Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run.

Thousands streamed into the Philadelphia Convention Center Friday when the doors at the Health and Fitness Expo opened at 11 a.m. to pick up their bibs.

There was plenty of muttering about Sunday's soggy forecast, but Debbie from Ambler has a plan:

"Probably will just change my clothing and wear my old sneakers and some layers and make sure that I have warm clothing for afterwards in the car."

Philly native Donald McRae says it's just part of the fun:

"I'll just run through it. I'm used to running in the cold and the rain. I kind of train all year long so it's okay with me."

Donald said he's not even planning to wear any protection from the weather.

Others say they will break out the rain gear, but most agree that staying at home is not an option.
