Source: Police Raided Wrong House In SW Philly, Took Innocent Residents Into Custody

By Dan Wing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  A police source says officials are apologizing after SWAT teams raided the wrong home in Southwest Philadelphia Wednesday morning.

The source says that police were searching for suspects in a violent home invasion and robbery, and that surveillance video from their real time crime cameras led officers to a residence on Elmwood Avenue around 2:30 a.m.

Police declared a barricade situation, and raided the home when SWAT teams arrived.

Three people were taken into custody, but released after questioning when police realized they were not the suspects officers were looking for.

Police say the suspects involved in the home invasion and robbery were wearing face masks, and that added to the confusion.
