Teen Girl Critical After Being Struck By Car In Gloucester County

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- A teenage girl is hospitalized after she was hit by a car in South Jersey.

It happened around 8 p.m. Saturday along Route 42 and Shoppers Lane in Washington Township, Gloucester County.

Police say a 15-year-old girl was crossing the road from the median when she was struck by a driver in a 2011 Toyota Yaris.

The girl, a Sicklerville resident, was taken to the Cooper Hospital in critical condition.

Police say the driver, a 21-year-old Stratford man, stayed on scene.

No charges have been filed.

Route 42 was shut down for six hours while authorities investigated the accident.
