Ted Cruz: Republicans Are Uniting Behind Me

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Ted Cruz, campaigning throughout Pennsylvania in advance of the commonwealth's primary on Tuesday, claimed he is bringing the Republican party together in opposition to the current front runner, Donald Trump.

Cruz, in an interview with Dom Giordano on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT, said the momentum in this race is clearly moving in his direction.

"You're seeing the Republican party unite and coming together behind our campaign. Prior to the New York result, where Donald won his home state, five states in a row had voted and we won landslides in all five. It started with Utah, then North Dakota, then Wisconsin, then Colorado, then Wyoming. Five landslides in a row. 1.3 million people voted in those five states. I think the reason is people want to support a positive, optimistic, forward looking conservative agenda with real solutions to bringing jobs back to America, to helping small businesses expand, to raising wages and defending the Constitution and Bill of Rights. That is why we're seeing Republicans unite behind our campaign."

He believes Trump is both misleading voters about who he is and is also out of step with what Republicans want from a presidential candidate

"He told us a couple of months ago he could become the most politically correct person in the world. We're seeing that today as he [sided with] letting adult men, strangers, be alone in a bathroom with little girls. I'm the father of two daughters. That is a very bad idea. At the same time, Donald also came out and said he supports raising taxes. That's the same view as Hillary and Obama. At the same time, Donald sent his campaign manager down to meet with the RNC officials and his campaign manager said don't worry, everything Donald said about building a wall, about illegal immigration, it's all an act. He doesn't mean it. He doesn't believe it. He's just saying this to fool gullible voters."
