Food Truck Review: No. 21
COW AND THE CURD
The menu is as simple as can be: Fried Wisconsin cheese curds. That's it. Well, they'll sell you a $4 designer bottle of soda, but as for food – one item. Fried cheese curds.
In case you've never tried this Wisconsin staple, it's simply cheddar cheese curds with the whey separated out. They're rolled in bread crumbs and fried. They're also pretty damned tasty – kind of like mozzarella sticks, but softer and much cheesier because of the cheddar. Actually, the closest taste comparison we can make is a grilled cheese sandwich.
A generous portion is fairly priced at $9, although we didn't love spending an extra 50-cents for "smoked" ketchup, which tasted like, well, regular ketchup. Overall, not the kind of thing your cardiologist would want you to eat every day, but it is pretty delicious.
The truck roams, but you can find where it's headed by following it on Twitter @cowandthecurd.
